Mexico City wants to shed its “polluted-cities-of the-world” image and thus has come up with a new initiative. The eco-transport initiative is called Mejor En Bici (Better On Bicycle). It’s a bike sharing free program which has already started there. The cool-looking white cruises catch your attention with their colorful wheel and adding an insta-charm to your cycling experience! The Mejor en Bici cruisers are available in the city’s eco-savvy corners including Condesa and Roma neighborhoods.
The bike sharing program is privately funded and through its popularity the city’s officials intend to construct about 200 miles of bile paths by 2012. Here’s how you can be the part of this program if you plan to have a nice vacation in this part of the world. As a user, you will be asked to register and sign a form. Ofcourse, you need to show your identity proof to the officials and submit a deposit of about $20 in local currency. The moment you park the bicycle after a day’s tour in the same lot you picked it from your money will be returned to you! Wonderful, isn’t it? You can avail the bikes on 5 days a week (Tuesday to Sunday) between 10am and 6pm. Happy Biking!
