Going green is becoming fashionable not just in homes and offices but also when the lights go out and the party times roll. The world’s first sustainable dance club started with a gala night and rocked on with green energy late into Amsterdam’s chilly nights. While all the booze flowed and the music roared, the completely human-powered LED floor and loads of other sustainable features stole the show. The energy of the entire lighting of the dance floor is generated from the fancy footwork of the guests on dance floor and as the party got wilder, the lights got brighter and crazier!
Watt, the sustainable dance club in Amsterdam had its awesome opening and it set new standards when it comes to partying clean. The club sports a variety of efficiency standards established by the Sustainable Dance Club group that allow it to save 30% on energy consumption, 50% on water use, cut CO2 emissions by 30%, and reduce waste by 50%. The LED lighting, the water-less flushes and the green power generation hope to save not just the planet but also some cash for the club in the long run.
London already has a green club and this chain of sustainable clubs intends to spread its way across Europe and then across the Atlantic. While the green movement might be spreading a tab bit slowly it surely is rocking the nightlife in Amsterdam. If you wish to promote green among the teens, then this is pretty much the way to go!

LED technology is the coolest thing that could have happened to energy-saving endeavors of the lighting industry. They are one green solution that looks much better than conventional lighting option and by going green one would also go higher up the style ladder. LED lighting solutions are becoming a major part of eco-conscious products in a brilliant bright way. Here is another really useful gadget that uses the bling of LEDs with some seismic technology to both light up your streets and warn you of an impending disaster.
Sharp is introducing a new range of solar-powered LED streetlights. These self-contained lights charge during the day, and switch on automatically when darkness falls. They make use of new, high-intensity LED spotlights, which are ideal for public parks. The LEDs illuminate with a directed light and don?t send light into the sky. If you were an astronomer who is mad about the cosmos then this is the best thing to have ever happened to your optical telescope.
The LED streetlights also feature a Seismic Motion Sensor that detects the occurrence of a major earthquake. If an earthquake is detected, the light turns on at full brightness during the night, to assist during possible power interruptions. This allows not just one to save 80% of normal energy consumption, but also makes sure that you save plenty of lives when a major disaster strikes. These light could be the difference between life and death for many people and nothing can be more important than that!

Carbon Footprint measurement has become more of a fashion statement than something aimed at saving the planet. Hence, if you happen to look at the generous stylish Carbon Footprint Monitor crafted by David Tonkinson then you are inclined to take my argument that it is an ideal candidate to bag the crown of artwork than eco-consciousness. Yet, do not let the amazingly modern and sleek look of the two globes fool you as they are more than capable of serving the purpose and helping you reduce on your homes Carbon Footprint. With LED lighting and crafted to minimize water, they are all about going green.
The LED powered wireless globes measure the Carbon Footprint of your home in a blatantly clear way and there are no confusing scales that you need to adhere to and no painful stats. The Green shows that you are low on Carbon emission and the red foot tells you that you are causing more damage to the planet than you should be. It encourages efficient energy use and by always showing the status of you Carbon Emissions you have a constant idea of how well or how badly you are doing.

What captures you the most is the fact that it wirelessly communicates with your main power source and you will not have to deal with hassles of rewiring. It also makes for a wonderful interior decorative piece even otherwise with its beautiful ergonomic design. Just do not use it as a decorative piece though!

‘Green is in’ and it seems to be growing ‘in’ to a way of life that is becoming a part of our homes more and more with each passing day. There was a time when people perceived green gadgets as ungainly stuff that would appear out of place in their sophisticated and stylish homes. But today perception has been radically altered by modern designers who are capable of weaving magic via their production of revolutionary gadgets. Eco-friendly gadgets and alternate sources of energy are now more popular than ever before thanks to their innovative designs.

Photosynthesis is a device by designer Vivien Muller, which is a solar-cell bonsai lookalike, tree charger. You can charge your cell, your Mp3 player or a number of other electronic gadgets by plugging in to the tree. With its’ 57 photovoltaic panels, the sun can power your tree during the day. Obviously you need to place it close to a window with plenty of sunshine and it will just go about doing its job quietly.
While the entire concept looks great and the ‘Metallic’ look is really futuristic, it would have been nice if it had little dots of LED that would be powered up at night to create a more spectacular visual display. Since LEDs consume little power, it would still be ideal for charging up your gadgets. Irrespective of all that, Photosynthesis lives up to its name for sure.

This LED light can be disabled at the touch of a button to let its build in battery get recharged when not in use. It will cost you just $21.99 and can be purchased at USB fever. Toshiba-one of the famous names in home-use lighting equipment industry has released two nouveau LED lights for commercial purposes. These are shaped like midget reflector and beam lamps. These were designed in a manner that they can be easily used with current sockets used for existing lights in your house (because these lights have the E26 base).
The 2 light sources which come in two types/models use Nichia Corp’s LED. While one is incandescent and the other is of white variety. The bulbs are specially designed for signboards, shops & other facilities. The 2 lamps are: midget reflector lamp and beam lamp-shaped LED light.

Midget reflector lamp:-
• Equipped with five LEDs
• Has a power of a 60W incandescent bulb
• Consumes only 5.3W electricity
• Luminance is 50lm/W (incandescent type) and 68lm/W (white type)
Beam lamp-shaped LED lamp:-
• Equipped with eight LEDs
• Equivalent to a 75-100W incandescent bulb
• Consumes mere 9W electricity!
• Luminance is 66lm/W (white type) and 48lm/W (incandescent type).
Both the lamps have a lifespan of 20,000 hours and the price tag for both is between $100- $140. All I can say is it’s a cheap price for super-efficient lights!
