Posted in Earth, Eco Art, Eco-Friendly, Eco-friendly products, Efficiency, Technology, concept on 11 October 2008

If you had wanted to live in a futuristic house that not only looked extra-terrestrial but is also green and sustainable, you may consider the awesome looking dome homes from Solaleya. The dome home rotates and faces the sun right from morning till evening and also saves on electricity that way. The domes are built using a special FSC-certified wood.

If that isn’t all, the dome can withstand hurricane and cyclone level rains. Designer Solaleya is proud to say that the energy saving device produces low consumption levels. The house is both admirable and worthy to own. Looks like Solaleya has a number of plans and designs up its sleeve. The fact that the dome shaped house is a sustainable one makes it all the more attractive and must prove to be an inspiration to other designers who could also go ahead and design buildings and houses that are sustainable.

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston
As Brad Pitt enjoys fathering his newest borns with Angelina Jolie, looks like his ex Jennifer Aniston is finally ready to move on. The celeb world is hit by news that Aniston is making plans to tie the knot with beau John Mayer this fall. Even the wedding details have been leaked out. According to some, Aniston wants a low-key wedding that will be completely eco-friendly. Now that would be a real change from the fireworks and million dollar splash of her previous marriage to Pitt in 2000.
Hmmm…you know we haven’t been sure of Aniston’s dedication for ‘green’. We get to hear of her practising water conservation and building an eco-friendly green mansion with a solar-heating system, drought-resistant plants and organic materials. But then the house is also11,000 sq ft and let’s not forget that she is also a spokesperson for bottled water band Smart Water.  Agreed that Mayer has influenced Aniston towards a greener way of life but it doesn’t seem to have really got on to her. Let’s be sure, even if everything is green at her wedding down to the organic tablecloths, tap water will surely not make an appearance.

Green Homes & Offices Installed Using Recycled Stuff
Posted in Architecture, Eco-Friendly, Green, Infrastructure, Recycling on 7 August 2008

A marvelous example of ingenuity and figment of our wide imagination has been portrayed by Denis Oudendijk and Jan Körbes. Lately, they have erected a Garden home by utilizing the discarded car tyres, wadding glasses, stainless steel plates and salvage wood. This autonomous entity erected mainly on wooden structure roofed with manifold thin plates is practically a four-season serviceable house. Above and beyond it is proved to be both water and winter resistant as it is sheltered by stone wool seclusion and a pant able plastic membrane. The idea of this innovatively designed edifice came to its creators due to the obligations presented by the inhabitants of the house.

Actually the designers got to meet a couple who were expecting their second child and out of necessity were keen on raising a larger and purposeful structure enclosing spacious office area and storerooms within it. Accordingly the architects planned for smashing down the on hand structure and rebuild the house by reprocessing materials and substances. In fact, this is an ecofriendly choice of building green homes employing natural stuff without being harsh on environment and surroundings.

It’s surely an eco intellectual, kind and humane way out to utilize recycled bits and pieces for making our environment green and granting safe asylums as well to several destitute beings that are on streets living a rough life.

Andrea Salvini’s Crab House-Inspired from Nature for Contemporary American Cabins.
Posted in Architecture, Designer, Eco-Friendly, Go green, Green, concept on 26 July 2008

Beach houses and cabins are synonyms of relaxation and holiday-fun. If you own one you are lucky and if you are planning to get one constructed near your favorite eco-spot then you are super lucky! Why, I’m saying this is for the facts that, those who are yet to get one for themselves, have an option to make a responsible choice and pick up a design which is both environment-friendly and sustainable. Like Andrea Salvini’s Crab House! A multidisciplinary architect and industrial designer that he is, his designs reflect simplicity and functionality. He draws his inspiration from natural elements (flora & Fauna). His latest vision for the American Cabin-a beach house for Fire Island (NY) derives its anthropomorphic shape from a Crab!

The crab house is raised off the ground by stilts. To capture the scenic beauty of the vast ocean the front of the house is made of glass mostly. Its top floor bears a wide open-air solarium so that, on days when you are too lazy to go to beach you can bask in your own house and get sun-ergized! The interiors of the crab house are equally interesting with a ‘no-fuss’ notion evident everywhere.

Crab house redefines the modern American Cabin along with the architect’s trilogy for cabins & beach houses for the Fire Island. His designs emphasize recreational space for socializing yet preserving the much-needed privacy in modern day living! In simple words, the crab house and other of Salvini designs take you one step closer towards peaceful eco-living.
