At this time the entire world is calling for green and hi-tech novelties and a fresh exemplar of this has been displayed by BenQ through an assortment of energy saving eco monitors. Lately BenQ has put on the market two variant models of LCD monitors: (G900HD/HAD) one which is black in color and the other one (E900HD/HAD) embracing black and silver color.
These newly divulged LCD monitors are deemed to be a green conceptual start on as they are outstandingly designed to save 25% of electrical power. In these exclusively manufactured eco monitors just two lamps are employed to give out 300 nits of brightness which would otherwise require four lamps in a conventional monitors. Now moving to the technicalities of these energy saving eco monitors would really beatify a green technocrat.

These slender and shiny look monitors are 18.5 inches in size exhibiting a top resolution of (1366×768) and contrast ratio of 10000:1. With a response time of 5 ms and 176/`60-degree viewing angle, these elegant LCD monitors are fortified with Senseye and digital photo imaging via VGA and DVI having HDCP connectivity.
BenQ’s freshly commenced monitors distinctively fell apart from their standard counterparts as they would take away not only ecological bangs but would result in an effective cost-performance ratio as well.

Simplicity touches our hearts like nothing else. Especially in a world full of myriad designs, multitudes of complex patterns and hi-fi stuff brought daily into our homes, one definitely longs for the simple joys of life! However, sometimes making simple things requires complexity as well Gregory Siegal’s Coffee Clock is an example of a simplicity and complexity working synergistically. This eco-friendly clock is recycled from three different things: a discarded French press, a coffee mug and a small alarm clock.

“Inspired by the simplicity of the interaction of a French press, my aim was to create a product of equal spareness in both form and interface. The whole in the woven metal aligns with one of the twelve holes of the metal plate behind it on every hour”, said the designer and clock maker. This eco-friendly idea was undertaken to explore the meaning of the form of products in relation to their function.

Thus discovering how complexity of structure might give rise to simplicity of form and vice versa. Whatever be the philosophy of Siegal, in my notion, the recycling of old, and discarded junk to create a new functional product is simply eco-friendly indeed. Also, it seems to be the need of the hour!

In his heartfelt proclamation ‘Design is Dead’, famous designer Philippe Starck came to a realization that everything he’s ever designed is totally useless and so announced a retirement in coming days. But now the artist it seems is over with his mid-life crisis and is back with a very innovative product. This time it’s a wind turbine called “Democratic Ecology”.
The latter is a partially transparent plastic generator which the designer made alongwith manufacturer Pramac. With this product the designer has certainly used his talent to make a positive difference in the world. Atleast, one can say it’s a neat try! The turbine which was on display in a cube decorated with eco-talks (motivational messages), can generate between 20% and 60% of a typical home’s energy needs.

“Democratic Ecology” is targeted at those who are now thinking actively towards increasing sustainability and decreasing load on earth, by consuming lesser traditional energy sources. The price is however not so democratic with a single turbine costing about $630! The designer will have to come out with cheaper versions and also a way of incorporating these in households which refuse to give up on conventional methods in order to popularize his recently found eco-consciousness! However, let’s be optimistic that those who can afford “Democratic Ecology” would certainly go for it.

Roberts Radio-a UK based radio manufacturer, has created a super green product. Its first solar powered DAB radio the world has ever witnessed and is appropriately called solar DAB. The radio set range comes in stylish colors like olive green, red, rose pink and the formal black and white. These compact and portable radios are powered by sun’s bountiful energy via a solar panel mounted on top of the unit. The panel absorbs the solar energy and kicks life into the radio sets. But the built in rechargeable batteries require ‘direct’ sunlight. Once fully charged, you can use the radio set till 27 hours even in complete darkness. And if the batteries are exhausted before you have a chance to charge them again using sun head for the electric switch board in your room and charge your little radio using mains adaptor. A single radio set will cost you £79.99 ($158).
So, now you can afford some green music for your ears! Cool isn’t it?

It is difficult to imagine a camera in a shape other than the conventional rectangular shape. If you notice, even the digicams are soap-box shaped. The time has come when the world will be struck by the brilliance of the Flying Stick Camera. Apparently, news is that it has no technical specifications to whiz your mind. It is only about simple, clean and green digital photography. So what else are we waiting for?
The gadget is cool and is designed to redefine aerial digital photography in the coming times. True, imagination has no limits and the Flying Stick Camera precisely proves that. The flying stick is energized by kinetic energy. Just rub it between your palms and release it. While in air, the device will automatically take pictures at set intervals and return back when the fuel discharges. There is absolutely no word on resolution yet or when will it be launched. But who minds waiting for a revolutionizing device like this one. How easy will it be now for all the photo-journalists to do their job? The camera will do the needful!
