It is wonderful when two good causes come together to make the world a much better place. It seems that the designing innovators of the world are coming together annually to create both better products and to make sure they raise money for charity by selling these unique pieces of work. The Botanist Blank Canvas project is the brainchild of Dario Antonioni and Brandon Lynne and aims at exactly that. notable designers such Yves Behar, Margo Chase, Milton Glaser, Kahi Lee, Karim Rashid, Joe Ricchio, Claude Zwelleger and Massimo and Lella Vignelli work together to produce amazing designs that are used to raise funds for the charity that they wish to donate the money to.
The benches and aluminum table collection from this year?s Botanist stint are a true delight to take a look at. They are constructed from a single sheet of aluminum, with an eye toward minimizing waste. The manufacturer uses recycled and recyclable aluminum to produce their super thin, yet surprisingly strong, modern and eco-friendly furniture. Wooden veneers that cover them are harvested from a sustainable forest and even the paint used is toxic free.

The amazing collection can be both inside the home and even for outside use. The collection not only promotes eco-friendly furniture, but it also makes sure that the money raised by these custom crafted pieces goes to those who need it the most.

Until today, I used to think that all those tones of milk crates post their usability are thrown in incinerators or molten and used in some other form. But I’m glad to find that one can use these crates without recycling them as well and the re-use comes in the form of DIY innovative furniture. WOW!

Tasmanian furniture designer Simon Ancher and designer house MADE has come up with some very interesting furniture styles created out of colorful but discarded milk crates. The chic-furniture options are stools, chandeliers, sofas, table, chairs…you name it and it can be done using a few crates and a lot of creativity! Contemporary box life designs from Naty Moskovich also belong to this category. Her designs include very trendy, youthful and easy-to-maintain furniture pieces for your apartment. In the corners of your cramped flat if there isn’t much space to bring in a big sofa then you can opt from one of her milk crate stools.

And for increasing the glam quotient of your teenage daughter’s room the Chandelier from MADE would be just perfect!

With such colorful furniture options at hand, at least I don’t need to spend huge money on painting the walls of my room every year! And the best part is if you opt this kind of furniture over the traditional wood furniture you can go green in style and save the precious woods too!

Gone are the days when keeping antique wood furniture was considered fashionable. Though, chairs and tables carved out of wood are considered classic but for environmental reasons it would be amoral to cut endangered forests for a mere table’s sake!

Nevertheless, you can still decorate your house with classic-looking furniture by Amy Hunting-this one recycled from wood waste and off-cuts. This way you can also become a part of the eco-savvy groups and still enjoy the wooden beauty without harming the nature any further.

Amy has a collection consisting of a chair, a book box and a series of 12 lamps (these lamps can be stacked one on top of the other). All of these are made by wooden patchwork sans screws & bolts. The book box has built in book stands thus making room for different sized books which can be placed randomly inside it. The box holds the books like a mother caresses her baby so you don’t have to worry about books falling out of place!
