Intended for optimal consumption of fuels in vehicles; Nissan latest creation of Eco pedal aims at facilitating drivers in keeping check on their fuel usage rate. An advanced processor system embedded inside the car would decide on the best requisite fuel usage and provide feedback to the driver instantly as and when he crosses that marked limit.
A display panel meant for feedback has also been integrated inside the car which would show green for fine condition but would start flashing when the system senses a speeding up and would ultimately indicates amber light once the driver has exceeded that defined parameters. A study confirms that this eco system can enhance up to maximum of 5-10%*1 vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
This eco driving indicator system would be of immense aid in harking back teenagers and learning drivers as well to keep their car’s speed in control. This recently commenced green technique could also be associated with collision avoidance radar systems being fitted in a number of cars for shoving aside drivers indulged in stalking on the road. Furthermore, the system can either be put in use or kept inoperative depending upon the driver’s requirements and driving circumstances.
Nissan is scheduling to put on this green product in market within a year period i.e. around 2009. I believe this would be indeed a revolutionary launch in the field of automobile industry.

In less than a fortnight’s time an enchantress will make her debut at the London Motor Show. She is Lotus’ new Eco Elise – the nouveau eco friendly cousin of Sports Elise. An entirely environmental-friendly concept, the car is inside out green! Don’t be confused. What I mean to say is, unlike, other green cars being launched by biggies of the motor world which primarily focus on cutting back the CO2 emission and switching over to hydrogen and biofuels; Eco Elise is a holistically green concept with every thing from the materials used to the tailpipe emissions is being taken care of with eco-concerns kept at the back of the maker’s mind!
A quickie on its USP’s:
It’s constructed from sustainable stuff - eco wool, sisal and hemp.
Even the car color comes from water-based paints.
Has a gear change display system integrated into the dashboard- so designed to advocate greener driving; changing gears at optimum point saves fuel and reduces emissions
To power ancillary electronic features, solar panels are installed on Eco Elise’s roof.
Weighs 32kg less than the standard Elise S!!! (in sync with Lotus’ “performance through light weight” philosophy).
I wish I could tell you the price as well but we all have to wait for more details about Eco Elise till the show begins. Till then, do ponder on this green baby over any other car. Don’t forget Eco Elise could become your own Zen garden for a peaceful Lotus Meditation!
