E ‘official: China can legally buy the ivory. The decision came a few hours ago in the meeting of CITES underway Monday in Geneva and which Ecoblog there had given account. As told to ‘AdnKronos Marco Valentini official of the Ministry of Environment has participated in the work:

With nine votes in favour, four against and two abstained the Standing Committee of CITES has admitted China, now next to Japan, purchase of ivory after the showing by the Beijing authorities, measures which prove the traceability of material .

In practice, China can thus buy ivory from South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana comes from elephants that died naturally and can not be sold retail and only in the internal market.
