Target has come up with an ultra cool collection of tees that will have teenagers wear their eco beliefs on their shirts. 100 per cent organic, the shirts come at an affordable $10 a piece.
So why organic cotton? Well, to start with it takes only one-third of a pound of chemicals to yield cotton for one shirt. In other words, this type provides clothes to almost half the world without the use of any harmful substances like pesticides, herbicides, insecticides etc etc.And the bonus on that is the feature prints or wording on tees which help further the cause- ideas of Earth, peace, nature and wildlife, basically all things green.

Famed Italian fashion designer Ermenegildo Zegna, in collaboration with Germany’s Interactive Wear that produces amazing innovations in ‘smart’ textile technology, brings to the world the world’s first solar-powered ski jacket. The slightly hefty price (hey, it’s a Zegna!) of $1,350 apiece may be justified if you look at the corollary benefit: you can also charge your cell phone or iPod while out on the ski slopes.
The Microtene jacket is waterproof, and comes with its own solar cells connected internally within its neoprene collar. You will be a walking (or skiing) carrier of renewable power since what you’re wearing converts sunlight into energy. If you don’t want to be carrying the solar converter, you may detach the collar and use it as a power source. This is sheer convenience and, yes, power! No more problems with cell phones, cameras, or iPods that have run out of electrical charge while you’re on top of a snowy mountain.

Is the red organic shirt in your wardrobe as harmless as it seems? Think twice. Apparently, despite the availability of a large variety of garments made from organic cotton and hemp, you might still not be getting a fair green deal. The basic business instincts in man should be blame here as more and more manufacturers are at a cost cutting spree.
Reports reveal that cloth companies are outsourcing their fabrics to inexpensive dye houses in Asia that use substandard or banned dyes. The workers at these dye centres are not only paid a measly allowance but they are also unaware of the carcinogenic nature of the chemicals used.
So, what should one do? Well, buy clothes only from known brands. And since they say that natural is the best; do not buy dark or bright colours. Stick to white or anything light and you shall safely be green. Look out for the eco-labelling on garments.

The brand ‘Under the Canopy’ (UTC) has come up with a smart plan to make the environment issues an integral part of the political agenda in America. With just six weeks to the much awaited Election Day, it has come up with a cool t-shirt both for men and women that says ‘Vote Ecologically’.
Displaying the slogan in bold lettering, the chic shirts are made up of 100% cotton and will definitely make head turns. Possibly that is the reason why they have been launched at this time. These shirts are a reminder for every American to cast their vote with a conscience. It is a way to tell the politicians what you feel concerned about so that they discuss and come up with sound environmental ideas to improve the condition of Mother Nature.
Without expressing a bias towards Independent, Republican or Democrat candidates, UTC openly expresses its ‘green’ leanings. The women’s tee comes for $28 while men can get theirs at $ 34. Go ahead and get one for yourself, after all 2% of the earnings go to the Rainforest Foundation.

Solar parking lots have been discussed many a times by the environmental technologists. The concept speaks of putting photovoltaic arrays and parking lots together so that sunlight can be harnessed. Then again, the array functions like a canopy thus providing shade to the cars. After much talks, finally someone paid attention. A Silicon Valley manufacturer that goes by the name of Applied Materials has incorporated a solar parking lot in its campus. Since the company makes semiconductors, LCD displays among other high-tech equipment, the solar energy harnessed basically will contribute to their energy uses.
Such parking lots will be a blessing for electric cars and with the demand growing for the latter, the parking system will need to be updated with the photovoltaic arrays. After all what does a solar parking lot need but just sunlight! The benefits are plenty.

And we thought lead in lipsticks was history. But a recent estimation revealed horrific findings. Apparently, an average woman consumes a kilo of lipstick every year, a part of which is the deadly metal lead. Yes, even brands like L’Oreal, Cover Girl and Christian Dior can’t be exonerated from this slow but dangerous health crime. Medical experts are concerned because lead does not have a tendency to get detoxified in fact it is readily stored in the body. So one can imagine the storage of disaster that the fashion woman harbours inside her! The toxic metal is associated with problems of behavioural disorder and miscarriages.
Those who thought they could detect lead by applying lipstick to gold, I’m afraid to say it’s not a safe method. In fact, lead is not even listed as an ingredient on lipstick labels. However, a look at SafeCosmetics.org will equip you will helpful and healthy information.

World famous designer Girogio Armani is wading in troubled waters with PETA by going back on his word. Last summer he promised the animal right organisation that he will not use fur in any of his collections. But now, he has gone ahead with a fall line which is full of fur coats for babies, floral-printed fur coats, fur-hemmed skirts and fur-trimmed jackets. Quite naturally, PETA is perturbed and will not stop at anything to teach him a lesson.
PETA prez Dan Mathews expressed the hurt his organisation felt. It is believed that other top noth designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger also took the anti-fur oath and never once broke their word.
So in retaliation Pamela Anderson will lead a protest to urge all celebs to boycott Armani and thus, teach him a lesson.
