Taking the names Mother Teresa, Bill Gates and Norman Borlaug in the same breath may not make sense to most of us. Teresa, the epitome of saintliness, how can she be put on the same platform as the man Gates who is infamous for giving us the Microsoft dancing paper clip and the blue screen of death; and who is Borlaug?
Surprisingly, they can be. The three of them are held together by their moral sense. Gates is the same person who spends millions to help the poor lead a healthy disease-free life. And Borlaug is a 90 year-old man who is better known as the father of the Green Revolution credited with saving a billion lives.
Yes, the moral sense is still alive. This is a thought contrary to what most believe. The virtue which tells us between right and wrong is still alive and will continue to do so. Remember what Immanuel Kant said, “Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the oftener and more steadily we reflect on them the starry heavens above and the moral law within.”
Morality came into question once again when actor Will Smith said that Hitler thought he was doing the right, and historians sided by him. Now that is a sense of self-righteousness that can cause more trouble than even the wrong. The entire world witnessed it during the II.nd World War.
